Born in Rhode Island, but raised on a “Gentleman’s Farm” in rural western Maryland, Rebecca McClive developed a lifelong fascination with the land and the animals that inhabit it.  This fueled a passion that has greatly influenced her personally, academically, and most importantly, artistically.
Throughout her childhood, the smells of the farm blended with the aroma of oil paints and turpentine.  For as long as she can remember, her father always had a painting in the works.  She became as familiar with painting as the daily routine of farm life.
After successfully raising her own two daughters, Rebecca decided to chase her dream and relocate out west.  In 2003, she relocated to Northern Colorado where she now makes her home.  Here she finds the power and perfection of the landscape and animals intriguing, and strives to express those qualities in her art.  There is a physical, emotional and spiritual value that connects her to the land and the life it nurtures.  “The animals are much bigger and easier to find then back east, and the landscape is more dramatic, providing a wealth of subject matter.”
Rebecca McClive paints in a style that is largely realistic with a touch of impressionism.  Largely self-taught, she has participated in numerous workshops with both landscape and wildlife artists including; master landscape painter Scott Christensen, and nationally known wildlife artists John Seerey-Lester, John Banovich, Terry Isaac, and Greg Beecham.  Most recently, she had the opportunity to participate in a six month mentoring program with master landscape artist Jay Moore.  Her formal education includes an Associates Degree in Wildlife Management. She is a signature member of Artist for Conservation, an associate member of Oil Painters of America and National Oil and Acrylic Society.
